They're laughing at you ... they're laughing at me. They don't care what you or I think. And their colleagues in the house and senate ain't talking. The media doesn't care ... they're providing cover.
It's the ruling class laughing at the rest of us. Both sides of the aisle. Where's Trump? Where's Vance? Why aren't they asking questions about Mitch?
Where's ol' Chucles? Where's ancient Nancy? Why aren't they asking questions about Maxine?
It's all because it's them against us. They don't benefit from transparency. They don't benefit from the truth.
They benefit from the deception. And that's the truth we should understand.
Leaked
[Verse 1]
Another call from the district today,
Some retiree wants to know if he's okay.
Tell him "unavailable," tell him "in a meeting,"
Tell him whatever keeps the calendar from bleeding.
They elected a name, not a man in a bed,
Long as the seat stays warm, who cares what's in his head.
[Verse 2]
Forty-three years and they still don't ask why,
Just cash the donation, wave, and say goodbye.
Let the interns handle the phones and the mail,
If nobody's watching, nobody can tell.
They want a hero, we'll give 'em a face,
A press release photo can hold down the place.
[Pre-Chorus]
Bless the papers that don't dig too deep,
Bless the anchors half asleep,
Every outlet playing nice,
Nobody's asking us twice.
[Chorus]
Thank god for the friendly press,
Thank god nobody checks,
The public's got a right to know —
Cute. Adorable. No.
Keep the lights on, keep the story straight,
They'll forget by the next debate.
We run this show, we hold the pen,
Come back and ask us again.
[Verse 3]
"She hasn't voted since March," someone wrote,
We typed back "handled," hit send, and joked.
"He hasn't been seen since June," said another,
"Perfect. Let the base go find another mother."
Constituents calling like it's their business somehow —
Cute that they think that matters right now.
[Bridge]
Sorry, not sorry, this is how it's done,
The seat outlives the person, always has, always won.
You want transparency? Get in line.
We'll leak you a photo, call it fine.
You want a statement? Here's a page.
We wrote the whole thing — bless your rage.
[Final Chorus]
Thank god for the friendly press,
Thank god nobody checks,
The public's got a right to know —
Cute. Adorable. No.
Keep the lights on, keep the story straight,
They'll forget by the next debate.
We run this show, we hold the pen,
Go ahead. Ask us again.
