Luck's Got Nuthin' to Do With It

October 31, 2025

It's about the work put in and the promises kept...

Have you ever heard someone tell a long-married couple how "lucky" they are to have made it through all those years together when so many marriages have failed?

Yeah, well, I reflect here on how little luck really has to do with a successful marriage.

Luck's got Nothin' to Do With It

[Verse 1]

They say you’re lucky in love when the sparks fly fast,

When the world feels golden, and the good times last.

But I’ve learned that love ain’t a roll of the dice,

It’s more than just luck, it’s a long-lasting fight.

[Pre-Chorus]

‘Cause luck’s just a moment, a brief little spark,

But love’s what you build when you’re willing to start,

With patience, with trust, with hands held tight,

It’s the steady heartbeat that gets you through the night.

[Chorus]

Yeah, luck’s just a dream in the light of the dawn,

But love’s the thing that carries us on.

It ain’t about chance, or the way we first met,

It’s the work we put in, and the promises kept.

We grow old together, through the highs and the lows,

And that’s where the real love, the real magic, grows.

[Verse 2]

It’s the little things we say when words get hard,

The listening close when the silence leaves scars.

It’s in the quiet strength of a shared embrace,

In forgiveness that blossoms with tender grace.

[Pre-Chorus]

See, love ain’t a race, it’s a slow-moving dance,

It’s more than just a look or a passing glance.

It’s the hand you hold when the world falls apart,

And the softest touch when you’re healing a heart.

[Bridge]

It’s respect that we honor, it’s trust that we share,

It’s lifting each other when life ain’t fair.

Through the losses, the struggles, the joy and the tears,

We’ll walk this road, hand-in-hand, through the years.

[Outro]

So here’s to the love that we choose every day,

It ain’t luck, it’s the heart that leads the way.

In the laughter, the tears, through it all we’ll stand,

Lucky in love, ‘cause we built it with our hands.
