This work is based on my written piece about the absurdity of Obama's Nobel Peace Prize. It seems like a lifetime ago and I suppose that's true for some. It may seem insignificant or even humorous or silly but I think it may have set the stage for much  of what has followed. This was gaslighting on a global scale.

The Mostly Peaceful President

[Intro]

Y'all settle in now, got a tale 'bout a man...

They called him the Mostly Peaceful President, yes they can.

[Verse 1]

Back in '09, he was brand-new in town,

Suit lookin' sharp, wearin' hope like a crown.

Ain't done much yet, just some speeches so fine,

Committee said, "Here's your Nobel, son, right on time!"

For dreamin' of peace and a world without war,

They gave him the prize before he walked through the door.

He grinned real big, said "I humbly accept,"

While the rest of us wondered what promise they kept.

[Chorus]

Mostly Peaceful President, shine that medal bright!

Got the Nobel for hope in the middle of the night.

Droppin' hellfire drones from way up in the blue,

Mostly peaceful explosions, just a few!

Hope and change ringing loud in the air,

But it's bombs and scandals if you dare to compare.

Mostly Peaceful President, what a beautiful lie,

Laureate of irony, wave that prize high!

[Verse 2]

Then came the drones, hummin' soft through the sky,

Five hundred plus strikes, watch the bad guys wave bye.

Ten times Bush's number, now that's quite a leap,

Weddings and villages? Just collateral, cheap.

Terror Tuesdays meetin', pick 'em over brunch,

Signature precision with a mostly peaceful punch.

And Fast and Furious, what a brilliant plan—

Armed up the cartels, let the guns walk the land.

Lost in the chaos, turned up at the crimes,

Border agent fallen, cover-up in the headlines.

[Chorus

Mostly Peaceful President, shine that medal bright! (Shine it up!)

Got the Nobel for hope in the middle of the night. (What a sight!)

Droppin' hellfire drones from way up in the blue, (Boom goes the view!)

Mostly peaceful explosions, just a few! (Nothin' new!)

Hope and change ringing loud in the air, (Loud and clear!)

But it's bombs and scandals if you dare to compare.

Mostly Peaceful President, what a beautiful lie, (Beautiful lie!)

Laureate of irony, wave that prize high!

[instrumental solo]

[Bridge]

Now the prize goes 'round to whoever's in vogue,

Unions and warlords sharin' the same rogue.

Kissinger, Arafat, Abiy in the mix,

Mostly peaceful winners with their mostly peaceful tricks.

It's all about vibes, no real peace required,

Just smile for the cameras and pretend you're inspired.

[Final Chorus] ]

Mostly Peaceful President, shine that medal bright!

Got the Nobel too soon, but he's ready to fight!

Droppin' hellfire drones, lightin' up the night,

Mostly peaceful fireworks, outta sight!

Hope and change turned to smoke on the breeze,

Nobel joke's on the world, if you please.

Mostly Peaceful President, ringin' loud and clear,

Biggest punchline in history—y'all grab a beer!

[Outro]

Mostly peaceful... yeah, right.
