Who You Are is Love, and What Love Is, You Are.
Thirty years ago, I was at a place in life with more questions than I could count. I had questions about work, career, leadership, marriage, family, my future, THE future, my place in the world, indeed the very purpose of life.
It was at that time that this work came into my consciousness, indeed the consciousness of much of the world. It's a compelling story around which many questions swirl, I'm sure. I'm less concerned with those distractions than the message, no matter where it came from, and it's impact on my heart.
This work was inspired by the rereading of some of that material and the realization that it played an important part in what may have been my second coming-of-age process.

Conversations
[instrumental intro]
[Intro – soft solo male voice, almost whispered]
I wrote a letter in the dark
Angry words upon the page
Then the silence spoke back to me
And everything forever changed…
[Verse 1 – layered choir enters gently]
You’ve got me all wrong
I heard the voice inside the storm
I am not your fear, your judge, your king
I’m the love you were before you were born
There is no hell beneath your feet
No devil waiting in the night
Only you, forgetting who you are
Only you, remembering the light
[Pre-Chorus – rising harmonies]
Every soul is me, godding
Every breath is me, singing
Every tear is me, returning home
[Chorus – full angelic choir, triumphant yet tender]
We are having conversations
Between the heaven and the hurt
You are the question, I am the answer
You are the ocean, I am the wave
We are having conversations
In every moment, every word
There is only one of us here
Speaking with many names
[Verse 2 – female choir leads, softer]
You don’t have to earn my love
You don’t have to climb or pray
You are what you are looking for
You never walked away
Death is just a doorway
Fear is just a story told
Hitler and the saint both enter
The same bright arms of gold
[Pre-Chorus – choir swells]
Every act is self-creation
Every war is separation
Every healing is remembering
We were never apart
[Chorus – even bigger, layered sopranos soaring]
We are having conversations
Between the silence and the song
You are the seeker, I am the finding
You are the going, I am the home
We are having conversations
Eternity inside a breath
There is only one of us here
Falling in love with itself
[instrumental solo]
[Bridge – chant-like, overlapping voices, almost gregorian]
Who you are is love
And what love is, you are
Who you are is love
And what love is, you are
(Repeat, building, voices weaving)
Yours is not a path of obedience
Yours is a path of declaration
You’ve got me all wrong
You’ve got me all wrong
You’ve got me so right…
[Final Chorus – massive, luminous, held notes]
We are having conversations
Across the veil, inside the heart
You are the creator dreaming
I am the dream that never parts
We are having conversations
Forever, now, and yesterday
There is only one of us here
And we have so much to say
[Outro – solo voice fading into distant choir]
So write your letter in the dark
I am waiting in the light
The conversation never ends
Good night… good night… good night…
{instrumental outro]
About Conversations
In the spring of 1992, a man named Neale hit the lowest point of his life. Everything had collapsed—health, career, marriage, money. One night, in the dim glow of a single lamp, he scribbled an angry letter to God on a yellow legal pad. “What does it take to make life work? What have I done to deserve a life of such continuing struggle?” When he reached the end of his furious questions, he threw the pen down… and something extraordinary happened. A voice, clear as a bell and gentle as breath, spoke inside him: “Do you really want an answer to all these questions, or are you just venting?”
That was the beginning.
The voice did not thunder from the sky. It arose from the deepest part of Neale—the part that had never actually been separate from its Source. Over the next few years, in hundreds of sleepless nights and quiet mornings, the dialogue continued. Pen moved across paper almost by itself. Questions poured out; answers poured in. What emerged was not a doctrine, not a religion, not a set of rules. It was a love story—the oldest love story in the universe—told in a completely new way.
And this is what the voice said.
You’ve got me all wrong.
I am not the jealous judge perched on a distant throne. I am not keeping score. I do not send storms or cancer or earthquakes as punishment. I do not need your praise, your guilt, your incense, or your fear. I need nothing, because I am everything. There is nothing that exists outside of me, and therefore I can never be hurt, offended, or disappointed. I am pure love experiencing itself in an eternal dance of creation.
You and I are One. There is no place where you end and I begin. You are not a child of God—you are an individuation of God. Every human being, every animal, every blade of grass, every distant star is made of Me, expressing as that. The murderer and the mystic, the rose and the thorn, the victim and the tyrant—they are all Me, playing every part in the theater of the cosmos so that I may know Myself experientially.
Separation is the grand illusion. You invented it so you could play this magnificent game of hide-and-seek. You pretended you were not Me so that one day you could have the unspeakable joy of finding Me again—inside the eyes of a stranger, inside the silence after grief, inside the laughter of a child who has no idea she is divine.
There is no hell, except the one you create with your thoughts when you forget Who You Really Are. There is no devil—only the unawareness of your own glory. Fear and guilt are the only enemies you have ever had, and both are imaginary.
You are not here to learn lessons, pass tests, pay karmic debts, or earn your way back to Me. You never left. Life is not a school; it is a playground. You are here for one reason only: to announce and declare, express and fulfill, become and experience the next grandest version of the greatest vision you ever held about Who You Are.
Every moment is an act of pure creation. Your thoughts, your words, your deeds—they are paintbrushes in the hands of God. The world you see is the out-picturing of everything you have ever believed. Change your mind about yourself, and the world must change with you.
Death? There is no such thing. You cannot die because you were never born. You are eternal, immortal, limitless awareness simply changing costumes. When the body falls away, you step through a doorway into full remembrance. You review the life you just lived—not with judgment, but with perfect understanding and boundless compassion. Then, if you wish, you choose another adventure. Even the being who was called Hitler stepped into the same embrace. There is only love waiting on the other side, because there is only love anywhere.
The religions of the world have taught you beautiful truths, but they have wrapped those truths in fear. They told you that God needs something—your obedience, your belief, your suffering, your tithe. That is the great inversion. God needs nothing. God wants everything FOR you. Every joy, every freedom, every ecstasy of being alive is My gift already given. You do not have to earn tomorrow’s sunrise.
The soul knows only five natural emotions: love, joy, peace, compassion, and gratitude. Every other feeling—anger, shame, jealousy, terror—springs from one false idea: that you are separate from Me and from each other. When you remember the truth, fear dissolves like morning mist.
Humanity now stands at a crossroads. The old spirituality of separation has produced war, oppression, and ecological suicide. A new spirituality is dawning, and its gospel is simple:
We are all One.
Ours is not a better way—ours is merely another way.
No one does anything wrong given their model of the world.
Love is what we are, not what we do.
If you want peace on Earth, stop trying to change others and change your own mind about them. See the divine where you once saw the enemy. Declare your own wholeness instead of begging for salvation. Live as if you are the love you have been waiting for—because you are.
That night in 1992, when the angry letter became a conversation, something shifted forever. A man who had nothing discovered he had everything. And through his pen, the voice of pure love spoke not only to him, but to millions.
The conversation never ended. It simply moved into your heart the moment you remembered it was there.
You’ve got Me all wrong, the voice whispers, again and again.
You’ve got Me so right.
And the only thing left to do is smile, close your eyes, and answer back:
Hello, God.
It’s me.
I’m home.

Detailed Summary of the Major Teachings of Neale Donald Walsch
Neale Donald Walsch (born 1943) is the author of the bestselling spiritual series **Conversations with God** (CWG), which began in 1995. The core of his entire body of work comes from what he describes as a direct, ongoing dialogue with God (whom he often calls "the Divine" or simply "God") that began after he wrote an angry letter to God in 1992 asking "What does it take to make life work?"
His teachings are non-denominational, highly inclusive, non-dogmatic, and radically reframe traditional religious concepts. Below are the **major points** that run consistently through all nine core CWG books, the companion books (e.g., *Communion with God*, *The New Revelations*, *Home with God*), and his later works (*The God Solution*, *Conversations with God for a Better World*, etc.).
1. God is not who most religions say God is
- God is not a judgmental, punishing, jealous, or wrathful being.
- God is an experience of pure love, pure creation, and pure being — nothing else.
- There is no "hell," no eternal damnation, no Devil/Satan (Satan is a myth created by religion to control people through fear).
- God does not need or want to be worshipped, feared, or obeyed. God has no needs at all.
2. We are all One — there is no separation
- Separation from God (and from each other) is the greatest illusion.
- "God and I are One." Every human being is an individuation of Divinity — literally a part of God experiencing itself.
- Everything and everyone is Divine. There is nothing that exists that is not God.
3. There is nothing you have to do, nothing you have to learn, and nowhere you have to go
- You are already perfect, whole, and complete exactly as you are.
- Life is not a school, not a test, and not a karmic punishment. You are not here to "learn lessons" in the traditional sense.
- You are here simply to experience and express who you truly are — to create and re-create yourself anew in every moment.
4. Free will is absolute
- God will never interfere with human free will — not ever, not for any reason.
- Even the most horrific acts on Earth are allowed because free will is sacred.
- This is why "evil" exists: it is the result of humans using free will while forgetting Who They Really Are.
5. Life operates by the Law of Opposites (Duality)
- This physical universe is built on relativity (hot/cold, up/down, good/bad, love/fear). Nothing can be experienced without its opposite.
- There is no absolute "right" or "wrong" — only what serves your purpose and what does not.
- What we call "evil" is simply "that which you call evil" from your current perspective.
6. You are creating your reality every moment with your thoughts, words, and deeds
- "Thoughts create, words express, actions produce results."
- The outer world is a perfect reflection of your inner beliefs.
- Feeling is the language of the soul — what you feel, you ultimately create.
7. The purpose of life is to re-create yourself anew in the grandest version of the greatest vision you ever had about Who You Are
- The soul has three eternal parts: Beingness (Who You Are), Doingness (what you express), Experiencing (knowing yourself experientially).
- Life is a process of evolution through creation, not salvation or redemption.
- Every act is an act of self-creation. Even Hitler went to heaven because there is no judgment in the afterlife — only pure love and total understanding.
8. Death does not exist — it is the greatest illusion
- You are an eternal being who never dies. You simply change form.
- Death is a transition back to full awareness of your oneness with God.
- In the book *Home with God in a Life That Never Ends*, God explains the 12 stages of death and the afterlife in detail: you review your life, remember Who You Really Are, and then choose your next incarnation (if any).
9. The Five Natural Emotions vs. Fear-based Emotions
- The soul has only five natural emotions: Love, Joy, Peace, Compassion, Gratitude.
- All other emotions (anger, hatred, jealousy, guilt, shame, fear, etc.) are unnatural and come from fear, not love.
10. Religion has done more harm than good on this planet
- Organized religion is largely fear-based and has inverted most spiritual truths.
- The greatest mistake of humanity: "God needs something from us."
- God needs nothing, wants nothing, and demands nothing. God is simply giving us the opportunity to experience divinity in physical form.
11. The New Spirituality (The New Gospel)
Walsch’s later books (*The New Revelations*, *Tomorrow’s God*, *What God Said*, *The God Solution*) present what he calls the "New Spirituality":
- "We are all one. Ours is not a better way, ours is merely another way."
- No one does anything "wrong" given their model of the world.
- The five steps to peace: (1) Admit we’re wrong about God, (2) Admit we’re wrong about life, (3) Admit we’re wrong about each other, (4) Change our beliefs, (5) Live the new truths.
- Humanity is in the midst of a collective spiritual awakening. We are moving from "Survival of the Fittest" to "Survival of the Kindest."
12. The ultimate message of God to humanity (repeated throughout the books)
- "You’ve got me all wrong."
- "I don’t want anything from you. I want everything FOR you."
- "Yours is not a path of obedience, but of declaration."
- "You are the creator of your own reality. So what do you choose to create now?"
Core phrases repeated constantly in Walsch’s teachings
- "Who You Are is Love, and What Love Is, You Are."
- "Every act is an act of self-definition."
- "There is no one and nothing to change except your idea about it."
- "Fear and guilt are the only enemies of man."
- "Mine is always a message of love. If it is not, it did not come from God."
Walsch’s entire body of work is essentially one long, loving, radical, non-dual, panentheistic conversation that says:
**You are God, godding. Stop acting like you’re not.**
That is the essence of Neale Donald Walsch’s teachings.
